Many, if not most, products that make it to market have at least one design feature that makes it appealing to consumers. What would be the point otherwise? Favorable design range from the every day, such as ergonomically designed keyboards and mice, to the life changing, such as Dean Kamen's Segway, or IBOT. Most of the time, design triumphs are just overlooked as conveniences, or flukes, but sometimes, products such as Apple's iPod can capture over 80% of a particular market's share thru sheer design brilliance, even though there are many other market choices. I have examined several products I have had either personal experience with, or have researched for one reason or another, and my evaluations of these "good design" examples can be viewed by following the links to the left of this page. |
